The Protected designation of origin is the name of an área, a specific place or, in exceptional cases, the name of a country, used as a designation for an agricultural product or a foodstuff,
– which comes from sucha an área, place or country,
– whose quality or proterties are significantly or exclusively determined by the geographical environment, including natural and human factors,
– whose production, processing and preparation tales palce within the determined geographical area.
In other words, to receive the PDO status, the entire product must be traditionally and entirely manufactured (prepared, processed and produced) within the specific region and thus acquire unique properties.

The Qualified Denomination of Origin (D.O.P.) from the region of Baena protects extra virgin oil produced in the area of Córdoba. This is a region leader in the production of excellent quality oil which has earned recognition after obtaining numerous prizes, which means they have a name to protect.

Baena is an area with a great tradition of olive groves, where olive trees have adapted to the soil and the climate of the region. Traditional mills and the people there have provided the region with its particular essence and it has won a reputation for the quality of the virgin oil that it produces, thus giving way to D.O. Baena.

‘Certified Quality’ is the brand created by Junta de Andalucía to promote those products which should be known for their special quality.

Objective: The objective of the ‘Certified Quality’ brand is to guarantee the special quality of agricultural and fishing products produced or distributed by authorised individuals or corporate bodies, as well as to facilitate their distinction in the market.

Requirements: The ‘Certified Quality’ brand provides space for all products with distinguished quality once they have been certified or protected by the Qualified Denomination of Origin (D.O.P.), the Protected Geographical Indication (I.G.P.), the Guarantee of Traditional Specialities, Organic Production or Integrated Production (E.T.G.), as well as agricultural and fishing products certified by official bodies.
